Teresa Martinez is a Post-Graduate Law Clerk at DeMaria Law Firm. Ms. Martinez received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley graduating with a major in legal studies taught by professors of Boalt Law School, and an associate’s degree in political science from Los Angeles Mission College, where she served as the elected Associated Student Organization President. After 5 years of work experience as a Legal Assistant in Corporate Law and Municipal Bankruptcy Litigation, including that of the City of San Bernardino and the insolvency of Puerto Rico, Ms. Martinez attended Southwestern Law School and obtained her Juris Doctor Degree. Ms. Martinez’s admission to the California Bar is pending.

As an active community member, Ms. Martinez volunteered during the 2008 mortgage crisis in the Los Angeles Superior Court’s Self-Help Clinics assisting low-income residents stay in their homes and defend against eviction and in the Northern California’s Bay Area during the 2010 recession assisting residents with disabilities and other disadvantaged positions to defend against vehicle repossession actions and police misconduct claims. Ms. Martinez also obtained the approval for a student union building and successfully maintained classes necessary for transfer open and available for Los Angeles Mission College students during the 2009 Los Angeles Community College District budget cuts for a community already disadvantaged by low socioeconomic factors, including lower educational achievement, poverty, and poor health, having wide-ranging effects on overall human functioning and society.
