Lizanne Aching

Lizanne Aching is an associate attorney at DeMaria Law Firm. Ms. Aching is licensed to practice in California and her current practice areas include insurance defense, school defense, employment defense and public entity defense. 

Ms. Aching is originally from the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago with background in diplomacy. Immediately upon completion of her Bachelor of Science Degree in Government and Master of Science Degree in Global Studies at the University of the West Indies, Ms. Aching joined the diplomatic service of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago in 2011. Following several years of national experience, Ms. Aching was transferred to Trinidad and Tobago’s Mission to the United Nations in New York in 2015, where she represented and negotiated on behalf of her country on myriad areas of international law, including international criminal law, law of the sea, universal jurisdiction, the rule of law, international humanitarian law and human rights law. 

As her interest in law grew through her exposure to legal issues at the United Nations, Ms. Aching decided to transition to a career in law. Ms. Aching went on to complete her Bachelor of Laws Degree at the University of London, and her Master of Laws Degree at American University Washington College of Law where she was awarded the Alumni Fund Full Scholarship for students who display rigorous academic dedication to the advancement of issues in international law. 

While preparing for the California Bar Exam, Ms. Aching worked as a law clerk for Tenants Law Firm and Bennett, LoCicero and Liu LLP where she gained experience in U.S. civil and criminal law and international arbitration. She passed the February 2023 California Bar Exam and began working as an associate at DeMaria Law Firm shortly thereafter. 

In her spare time, Ms. Aching enjoys spending time with her husband and son, running, travelling to new places, and baking.
